Why We Started Public Square Press

Every publishing house begins with a conviction. Ours is simple: great stories deserve a thoughtful home. Public Square Press was born from a love of literature and a belief that the publishing world benefits from houses that are deeply selective — that read with care, edit with intention, and bring a personal touch to every step of the journey from manuscript to bookshelf. We are not trying to publish the most books. We are trying to publish the right ones. Our name reflects this commitment: the public square has always been a place where stories are shared, where voices are heard, and where communities gather around the ideas that matter most. We want our books to feel like that — like an invitation into something meaningful. As we prepare to release our first title, The Melody of Us, we are grateful for the writers who have already trusted us with their work, and for the readers who are joining us at the beginning of this journey.
